OSS 117 is back!

Sovereign secret agent and heartbreaker. The nostalgia of the tough-tempered, unpretentious agent, inspired by Jean Bruce

OSS 117 is the code name of the fictional secret agent Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath, an invention of the French author Jean Bruce (1921-1963), who wrote the first story about the suave heartthrob in 1949. By the time of his death, Bruce had written an impressive 88 novels. But that's not all: his wife Josette added another 143 stories to the series and his children François and Martine another 24! The last one was published in 1996. In real life, code number 117 was assigned to William L. Langer, head of the Research and Analysis Branch of the OSS. In the wake of the success of agent films modelled on James Bond, a series of OSS-117 films were also made for the cinema, and they too were clearly based on the (over-)great role model of James Bond: trivial, lustfully over-the-top serial nostalgia for aficionados. Super agent Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath, alias OSS 117, has the same inspiring ingredients as his famous English colleague 007: a smart, clever star secret service agent who takes on every villain in the world and likes to save the world along the way.
